PORTRAITS / Muppets
I remember a grown-up explaining to me that these were puppets with a human hand inside. I was able to understand that just fine. But what I couldn't imagine was a muppet sitting idol between episodes, hanging in a closet, laying in a box, etc. No way. Some puppeteer had to ride home in a taxi with his hand inside Kermit making kermit say, "Keep the change". Kermit would have to brush his teeth, walk the dog, go grocery shopping. Maybe the puppeteers did it in shifts, I don't know. But there's no way Kermit was just sitting there lifeless with his eyes wide open not having any thoughts. It had to have been a full time operation.
I never quite outgrew this.
